I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of Heathlands Primary Academy and I would warmly welcome you to come and have a look around the school.
We pride ourselves in the fact that the children are well cared for and are at the heart of everything we do.
From the youngest to the more senior children, they tell us they enjoy the school and enjoy learning. Parents also, tell us that their children love coming to school and look forward to the learning that has been planned for them. This is exactly what school should be about! We continue to drive forward, taking on board new, exciting ideas and initiatives to ensure that pupils’ academic progress is developed to the maximum.
We are fortunate to have been moved into a new building in January 2016. The children at Heathlands enjoy their colourful, spacious surroundings including many bright and vibrant display boards that showcase children’s learning and support them with their work in class.
We have an inviting, fully equipped library with lots of new books by a range of different authors. In addition, our children have loved the new sports hall which accommodates a range of sports lessons and clubs and hosts community events such as whole school assemblies, music concerts and parent workshops. We are lucky enough to have a music and art studio and design technology room where children can be creative and develop their skills across the wider curriculum. Heathland’s school ethos is caring and supportive of all children which creates a nurturing learning environment where children can flourish and be the best that they can be.
At Heathlands Primary Academy, adding to the school curriculum with enrichment activities is key to developing our pupils. We offer a range of Extra Curricular activities throughout the year, ranging from Choir to Football and Film Club to Minecraft Club. In addition to this, children at Heathlands have the opportunity to learn the Flute, Fyfe or Guitar; this allows our pupils to learn a new skill and perform in front of an audience of both their peers and parents.
In order to further support the curriculum, our pupils regularly go on Educational visits, these can be to places as close by as Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens or as far afield as Warwick Castle. The aim of these visits is to enrich their learning by giving it a real-life context. Alongside this, enrichment days for events such as Eid or Black History Month allow the children to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of world events or history.
In the EYFS at Heathlands, we aim to ensure that every child has a happy and positive start to their school life. We establish the solid foundations that all children need to be successful life long learners and as a unit, we strive to ensure that all children develop a love for learning.
We value every child’s starting points and celebrate the individual learning journey that each child will take during their time here. We recognise that building relationships between adults and children is essential and we pride ourselves on forming strong bonds with both children and parents in our school. We understand and value the opportunities that all children need to be independent and how perseverance, patience and confidence will support them to be successful in all that they choose.
