I have spoken to many of you individually but thought as we are at the end of the week, I would write to all of you, just to say 'Hi!' and give a check in from the school. .
The most important thing for me to say is that I really hope that you are all well and that your children and your families are safe, and coping as best as you possibly can with the current situation. It is a very challenging time and it seems it will continue to be so for a good while yet.
I have been asked many times about school reopening. I know as much as you do in regards to this. Until we hear from the government, school will remain closed.
We have however, stayed open for children of key workers. This is a small number of children from both Heathlands and also Tame Valley. They have been a pleasure to have coming in! We are so thankful to the parents of these children for what they are doing for us during this time. A big thank you also to the staff that have been in working with the children.
This week saw us start using Seesaw as a means of pupils communicating with their teachers. I have had positive feedback from families and staff with this. Please let us know how you feel it is going. Most children have logged on and been in contact. If you haven't done so, then please try and get on and send your teacher a message. In regards to home working, this is very much unknown and brand new territory for us. We know that there will be lots of variables for our children, ie access to ICT and the internet, access to books etc, and children will complete different levels and amounts of work. Please encourage your children to have a go at the activities set on the website and any concerns, please contact your child's class teacher via Seesaw. I have been asked about collecting work from school. With social distancing in place, this is not something we are able to do and all learning will need to take place remotely. Let us know if there is anything you think we can help with.
The priority in all this is your child's well being - and while I strongly encourage you to follow the plans and the lessons set by the teachers, please focus on that as your priority. I must also thank all of the staff for adapting to planning home learning' so well. You have been brilliant! '
Thank you to those of you that have contacted the school via social media or the keep in touch email address. If you don't already do so, please follow us on Facebook. There are some lovely stories and photos of our children on there. Please continue to keep in contact and try and check in with us at least fortnightly. Please also use this to let us know if you are having any difficulties in this time. Whether they are financial or are about the well being of your children, please pipe up and let us know. We may be able to help.
I also wish Ramadan Mubarak to those families that are starting Ramadan this week. I wish you luck and peace in the challenges that this month brings.
Finally, just to say once more on a personal note, how much I am missing seeing all of the school community. I miss the buzz, and even adrenalin that being your headteacher brings. It is a privileged job and I look forward to the time when it is safe for us all to be back together again.
Take care all of you.
